How to apply to the Distinguished Service Awards

The board of the European Artificial Intelligence Association, EurAI, invites nominations for the EurAI Distinguished Service Award 2023

From this year, 2023, The EurAI Distinguished Service Award will be presented annually to two individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the European AI community. The award recognizes their excellent service and dedication towards advancing the field of AI.

Recipients must be members of a EurAI society.

The past recipients of the award are: Erik Sandewall (University of Linköping, Sweden), Luigia Carlucci Aiello (Sapienza Università di Roma, Italy), Ramon Lopez de Mantaras (IIIA-CSIC, Spain), Wolfgang Bibel (TU Darmstadt, Germany), and Luc Steels (University Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona)

EurAI fellows, as well as EurAI member societies, can nominate.

The nomination process entails the following steps:

  • Nominations should contain a 1-2 page justification explaining why the candidate is considered appropriate for the award and identify the EurAI society of which the person is a member.
  • Nominations of candidates should also include a proposed citation to appear on the award certificate. Typically, this citation begins with the text "For contributions to the field of artificial intelligence through sustained service ..." followed by a phrase of, ideally, not more than twenty carefully chosen words that reflect this nominee's demonstrated service to the European AI community.

Nominations should be sent by June 30th, 2023 to executive-secretary@eurai.org.
